➤ How do you detect unboundedness with the simplex method?
During simplex, you detect unboundedness when the entering variable’s pivot column has no positive coefficients for a leaving ratio. That means you cannot find a finite leaving index and the objective can increase without bound. In that case you stop and declare the problem unbounded instead of continuing pivots.
