According to Boli and Thomas, five basic world-cultural principles underlie INGO ideologies and structures. Match each of these five with its best definition.
Group of answer choicesHumans everywhere have similar needs and desires, can act in accordance with common principles of authority and action, and share common goals. Human nature, agency, and purpose are thematically interconnected, and this commonality underlies the many variations in social forms. Most INGOs are explicit about this – any interested person can become an active member, and everyone everywhere is a potential beneficiary of INGO activity. The purposes and actions of organizations should not be limited by borders.[ Choose ]

Most INGOs accept as members only one-by-one; the main exceptions are trade and industry bodies, which often have firms as members. INGOs tend to use democratic, one-person– one-vote decision-making procedures, they assess fees on discrete members, and they downplay national and other corporate identities in their conferences and publications. In the world-view embodied by INGOs, collectivities are essentially assemblages of “real” actors as people.[ Choose ]

INGOs activate a particular cultural model when they organize globally, debate principles and models, and attempt to influence other actors. This model holds that responsible individuals acting collectively through metered procedures can determine cultural rules that are just, equitable, and efficient, and that no external power is required for their legitimation.[ Choose ]

Everyone is an individual endowed with certain rights and subject to certain obligations; everyone is capable of free actions that seek logical solutions to social problems; therefore, everyone is a citizen of the global polity. Each individual should have the power to pursue particularistic interests, preferably in organizations, while also allowing individuals to promote collective goods defined in largely standardized ways that are egalitarian.

➤ How do random demand variations affect forecasting and inventory decisions?
Random demand variations are unpredictable deviations that forecasting cannot fully explain. They increase uncertainty, require larger safety stocks, and shorten review cycles. Managers must use probabilistic inventory models, monitor performance, and add buffer capacity or flexible supply options to reduce stockouts and service failures caused by these irregular swings. -

As a purchasing agent employed at Grocery24, a nearby supermarket, you are tasked with making sure that food procurement is carried out appropriately. Because of the case issue, there are doubts, and you have to be sure that suppliers have better quality control than PepsiCo/Sasko, the supermarket’s sole bread supplier. The retailer is currently looking for methods to enhance its procurement procedures in order to stop future occurrences of this kind. The goal of your manager is to comprehend how procurement affects the organization as a whole.
Examine critically how enhancements to the procurement function may impact the Grocery24’s FIVE (5) main activities (inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing & sales, and service) using Michael Porter’s Value Chain framework.
Examine purchasing’s function both internally and with the end user. Using Grocery24 as an example, describe how enhancing strategic proactive purchasing might help with supplier management and risk reduction in upcoming interactions with PepsiCo.
Purchasing and supply managers have duties and responsibilities in every organization. How can Grocery24’s purchasing manager integrate the four main duties of risk management, cost control, operational excellence, and continuous improvement to create a supply chain plan that will guarantee effectiveness, safety, and the avoidance of future incidents? Provide detailed steps for every duty in your response that will improve the supply chain as a whole and lower risks.
Price and material slack can occur for a number of reasons. Choose FOUR (4) causes of pricing and material slack, and assess how each of these causes particularly affects Grocery24, a business that buys perishable goods like bread. In your assessment, take into account how these factors might affect the company’s pricing choices, inventory management, and procurement tactics, especially in relation to the grocery shop or the grocery sector as a whole.
Grocery24 is thinking of starting a new internal bakery. Chris, one of your coworkers, has always been determined to purchase and outsource baking in the future. He now knows that when outsourcing takes place, there are risks associated with the agency, such as contractual, technical, commercial, and performance risks. Analyze the potential effects of these risks in the setting of a small grocery shop like Grocery24 and suggest ways that Grocery24 can reduce them (this is an application-based question, and your solution should clearly refer to the scenario supplied). -

Stacee Laboratories
Stacee Labs, the research subaidiary of Stacee Pharmaceuticaly, Inc., has a long history of successful research and developmen, of medical drugs. The work is conducted by standalone projea, teams of scientists that operate with little in the way of schectici, budgets, and precisely prodefined objectives. The parent compaerfs management felt that scientific research teams should not be encumbered with bureaucratic recond-keeping chores, and their work should go where their inspiration takes them.
A Special Committee of Stacee Pharm’s Board of Difectors has completed a study of Suacee Labs and has found that its projects required a significantly longer time to complete than the industry average and, as a result, were significantly more expen. sive. These projects often lasted 10 to 15 years before the dryg could be released to the market. At the same time, Stacee Lats projects had a very high success rate.
The board called in a management consultant, Ms. Millie Tasha, and asked ber to investigate the research organization briefly and report to the boand on ways in which the projects could be completed sooner and at lower expense. The board emphasized that it was not seeking nit-picking, cost-culling, or time-saving recommendations that might lower the quality of Stacee Labs’s results.
Ms. Tasha returned after several weeks of intervicus with the lab’s researchers as well as with senior representatives of the parent firm’s Marketing. Finance, Government Relations, and Drug Efficacy Test Divisions, as well as the Toxicity Test Department. Her report to the Board began with the observation that lab scientists avoided contact with Marketing and Govenmental Relations until they had accomplished most of their work on a specific drug family. When asked why they waited so loeg to involve marketing, they responded that they did not know what specific products they would recommend for sale until they had completed and tested the results of their work. They added that marketing was always trying to interfere with drug design and wanted them to make exaggerated claims or to design drus based on sales potential rather than on good science.
Ms. Tasha also noted that lab scientists did not contact the toxicity or efficacy testing groups until scientific work was completed and they had a drug to test. This resulted in long delass because the testing groups were usually occupied with otber masters and could not handle the tests promptly. It usually took mary months to organize and begin both toxicity and efficacy testing. -

analysis and comments for the below Compared with some grocery industries, the online channel has…
Compared with some grocery industries, the online channel has been more successful in the computer hardware industry. The main reason is because of the key difference in product characteristics and also the demand of the supply chain.
Some computer hardware products such as laptops, printers and computer components are having really high value to weight ratio and they are non perishable, which makes them the perfect product for online selling. So in other words, shipping these products is efficient because their value justifies the cost of the delivery, and they don’t need special treatment or temperature control at all. Compared with that, the groceries are considered low value-to-weight products, they are easy to perishable, and they need careful temperature management and also fast delivery. All of these increase the price and complexity of the online grocery logistics.
From a supply chain perspective, in our textbook, Chopra and Meindl said that the product characteristics, including value, demand uncertainty, and perishability will all affect the efficiency of the distribution channels. (p. 80–82). Computer hardware has a long product life cycle and also stable demand, it means that inventory can be centrally stored and shipped when they are needed. Compared with that, the groceries are having a short shelf life and their demand is usually highly uncertain, which makes the centralized online distribution risky. Moreover, the frequent, and small amount delivers characteristics also increase the transportation costs and reduces profitability.
In future, the online channel will still likely be valuable and profitable for the computer hardware industry. As the development of technology, the customer will pursue convenience and variety in computer hardware purchased and they will be more likely to favor online platforms. Based on what Chopra and Meindl said in the textbook, the efficient online channels can gain profit from the high inventory turnover and low holding costs, especially for some high value and standardized products. (p. 94–96). Some big online platform companies like Amazon already prove that this model can be successful, and the improvement in logistics like faster delivery and automated warehouses can also increase profitability.
So my conclusion is that the computer hardware industry can keep development now and in future due to its products being valuable, durable and easy to ship. Compared with that the grocery industry are having high logistics costs and complexity, all of those limit the profitability of online grocery sales.
