➤ Why isn’t the MS-DRG used as a patient-level adjustment in the IPF PPS?
MS-DRGs classify acute hospital stays for the inpatient hospital PPS and reflect medical and surgical resource use. IPF PPS uses a per-diem structure with psychiatric case-mix adjustments, so MS-DRGs do not align with psychiatric per-diem payment methods and are not used as patient-level adjustments.
