    BUSI 615

    **Integrated Learning Project Assignment Instructions**

    **Overview**

The integrated learning assignment is a series of 6 assignments and a final course consolidated submission. All assignments and the compilation of the final consolidated submission is managed as an individual assignment.

    **Purpose**

The purpose of the ILP is for everyone to develop a working model of an ERP system applied to a firm of their choosing. This model will be built up in modular format through weekly assignments culminating in the submission of the completed model in the final week of the course together with a management proposal detailing the costs and benefits as they apply to the income statement and balance sheet of the selected firm.

    **Resources**

The development of the assignments will be supported not only by written instructions but also with an explanatory Watch item.

    **Expectations**

    1. Each component, from Module 3: Week 3 will be the development of an ERP module in Excel relevant to the topic for that week. The Excel development will follow SAP and other ERP systems formats. The Excel file will be accompanied by a written assignment containing:

    0. Details on how this ERP assignment could be implemented (assignment management process, who should be involved, and why, etc.) within the chosen firm (min 300 words)

    0. Details on how ERP could be operated (management process, who should be responsible, numbers of different users of each module, data accuracy, etc.) within the chosen firm (min 300 words)

    0. What could be the future sources of inaccuracy in the data contained the ERP system (min 300 words)

    0. How the corruption of the data could be prevented (min 300 words)

    0. An analysis and composition of the net benefit (benefits minus costs linked to income statement and balance sheet) of the implemented ERP system

    1. The final integrated Excel ERP working model for your chosen firm, due at the end of week 8, will tie all the preceding modules together into a fully integrated working ERP model in Excel. The integrated modules will include, Master Production Schedule, Bill of Materials, Materials Requirements Planning, Capacity Planning, Distribution Requirements Planning and Shop Floor Control. The Excel file will be submitted simultaneous with the following written report. The final course report would be about 3,000 words (excluding references and appendices), much of which would have been accumulated over the preceding 6 weeks.

    1. The final submission will also include a written management report detailing (1) a recommendation for implementation based on a cost / benefits analysis (2) implementation assignment plan with responsibilities, (3) a justified recommendation for an ERP system (e.g. SAP, or other) and its operation (local or cloud processing, scope of application (national, global, etc.)

    **Instructions**

**Part 1 –** **Company selection** – Characteristics – Manufacturing – Publicly available financial accounts – consumer or industrial product (either make to order or make to stock) – examples Tesla / Boeing (search YouTube “Mega factories” and choose one of these documentary examples to appreciate the level of manufacturing detail required). Structure your assignment as follows (word counts are minimums):

    o Title page

    o Company description (300 words)

o Financial trends: Overview of inventory types/trends/productivity (trends in day’s stock by type, Etc.) (300 words)

Income statements (last 3 years) (300 words)

Balance sheet (last 3 years) (300 words)

o Opportunities for logistics to improve income statement (consider revenues and operating costs) and balance sheet asset productivity. Provide quantitative calculations and probable range of costs / benefits. (300 words)

MOA ( Respond no more than 150 words)

My Career Development Plan follows the SMART goal framework discussed in this week’s lesson by ensuring each objective is specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. In the short term, completing my MBA will strengthen my leadership, strategic planning, and project management abilities. These competencies are essential for professionals who must manage complex organizational environments and make data-informed decisions. Within three years, I plan to promote to Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force while pursuing a master’s degree in Cybersecurity. This program will expand my understanding of network security, information assurance, cyber threat detection, and digital forensics. These skills are increasingly important as cyber threats affect national security, economic stability, and critical infrastructure. Over the long term, I intend to pursue a Doctor of Global Security to deepen my knowledge of international security policy and global strategic challenges. This progression aligns professional leadership development with advanced education. | Goal | Year's Objective | Milestone | Obstacle | Solution |
    | Finish my MBA with an emphasis in Analytics. | Year 1: Complete graduate degree to enhance analytical and strategic skills. | Successfully completing this class. | Balancing coursework with full-time work and personal responsibilities. | Adhere to weekly time-management schedule that blocks out dedicated time for study. |
    | Become a subject matter expert (SME) in my position as a Management Analyst. | Year 3: Achieve expert-level knowledge and be recognized as a go-to analyst in my office. | Lead at least one major tasker and identify and implement a large process-improvement. | Limited opportunities for high-visibility projects or mentorship roles due to hiring freeze. | Proactively communicate career goals to my supervisor and volunteer for taskers. |
    | Increase my knowledge of Power BI. | Year 1: Develop advanced proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and business intelligence. | Complete an advanced Power BI certification course by the end of 2026 and apply it to my work. | Finding dedicated time for training alongside MBA studies and work duties. | Integrate Power BI learning into MBA projects where possible or dedicate a specific weekly time slot for the course. |
    | 4. Maintain a sustainable work-life balance. | Ongoing (Years 1-5): Consistently protect personal time to ensure a healthy and sustainable career pace. | Schedule and take regular vacations, and establish a weekly routine that includes non-work-related activities. | The tendency for work and academic responsibilities to encroach on personal time. | Set firm boundaries, such as not checking work email after a certain hour, and schedule personal activities in my calendar. |
    | 5. Find another federal position when we move back stateside. | Years 3-5: Prepare for and secure a new federal role in the target stateside location. | Identify target agencies and positions, begin working on federal resume, and accept a suitable offer by Year 5. | A competitive job market and the logistical challenges of a long-distance job search and relocation. | Leverage my MBA, SME status, and professional network to build a strong application and use federal employee networks for leads. |

My MBA with an emphasis in Analytics is the foundation of my career development plan. The program equips me with the advanced analytical frameworks and quantitative skills necessary to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in my current Management Analyst role and to master tools like Power BI. Luckily, there are already quite a few training courses offered by the program, but I feel like I can never get enough because I’m always learning new things. The strategic thinking and leadership competencies gained from my MBA studies should help as I aim to lead high-impact taskers. With tensions high and the sledgehammer directed at federal employees – RIF’s and other Manning taskers are continuously coming down the pipeline and each requires strategic thought to ensure compliance while also mitigating risk from loss personnel. My goal is to lead one of these taskers. Holding a master's degree strengthens my qualifications, making me a more competitive candidate for higher-grade federal positions when I transition stateside. Completing the course plan as directed to receive an MBA provides a critical knowledge base to not only achieve my immediate goals but also to propel my long-term career growth within the federal service.

By integrating management knowledge from the MBA with cybersecurity and global security studies, I will be better prepared to contribute to organizations that operate within complex security and policy environments.
