    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    ## **Instructions**

    ### **Part 1 – Individual**

The following should be completed by each group member using data from their own school.

    – Identify the various meetings and events that occur in your school that require the availability of data for decision-making.

    1. Identify key meetings in your school that require access to data for decision-making (e.g., parent-teacher conferences, faculty meetings, leadership team meetings, grade-level team meetings, collaborative planning, School Improvement Plan, Mid -Year Reflections, etc.). Refer to the example of a completed "Data Question Organizer" on page 225 on _The Data Driven School_.
    2. For each event, list the date, participants, data needed, and tools required to access the data.
    – For each meeting/event identified, create a table listing:

    – Date of the meeting/event
    – Participants involved
    – Data that are needed for the meeting/event
    – Work backward to determine how the data will be gathered and made available.

    1. Tools/software required to access the data
    2. Identify when the data need to be gathered (e.g., testing windows for assessment data).
    3. Determine how the data will be gathered (e.g., stored in software), who is responsible for this process, and how much time is needed.
    – Consider any necessary training for participants prior to the event.

    ### **Part 2- Group**

Complete the following as a group:

    – Develop a Data Management Plan:

    1. Based on the information gathered in Part 1, develop a data management plan for an "ideal school". The information collected in Part 1 should be used to identify best practices that will be included in this school. Exclude any data tools and/or practices that are redundant or not effective for school improvement.
    2. Include a timeline for data gathering, responsibilities for data management, training needs, and report development.
    3. Consider how the plan can be implemented and monitored for effectiveness.
    4. Consider using the "Data Question Organizer" on page 225 of the of _The Data Driven School_ as a guide to help you complete this activity.
    – Present:

    – Prepare a presentation of your data management plan to share with the class.

    – Discuss the key events, data gathering processes, special reports, and timeline for implementation.
    – Create a visually engaging presentation.
    – Outline the key components of the data management plan.
    – Use a voiceover to provide detailed explanations for each slide.
    – Highlight important dates, participants, required data, tools, timeline, responsibilities, training needs, and monitoring mechanisms.
    – Use consistent formatting and professional design elements to improve readability.
    – Incorporate visuals like graphs, charts, and diagrams to enhance understanding and retention of information.
    – Aim for a presentation duration of 10-15 minutes to maintain audience engagement and focus.

    ## **Resources**

    Highlights from the assigned reading:

    – Data Question Organizer ( _The Data Driven School_, p. 225)

In addition to the resources assigned on the module overview and resources page, you will need the following to successfully complete this assignment:
