➤ Can ECV values of 1.0–1.2 cm3 indicate perforation or cerumen blockage?
ECV values around 1.0–1.2 cm3 are within normal adult range and do not suggest perforation. Very large ECV (>2.0 cm3) raises suspicion for tympanic membrane perforation or patent ventilation tube. Very small ECV may reflect probe tip occlusion or impacted cerumen. Always verify with otoscopy before making a clinical conclusion.
