    Topic/Title:
Design and Implementation of a Real-Time Part Delivery Tracking for a Production Line Optimization at an automotive company.
    PROBLEM STATEMANT
Automotive production lines depend on timely and accurate delivery of parts to workstations to maintain throughput and avoid costly stoppages. Many companies still rely on manual handovers, paper-based records, or intermittent scans that create visibility gaps, delays, and mismatches between scheduled and actual part delivery. These shortcomings lead to line downtime, increased labor for searches and corrections, inventory buffering, and suboptimal production scheduling. The researchable problem is to determine whether a real-time part delivery tracking system can be designed and implemented to provide continuous, high-resolution visibility of part movements, integrate with production scheduling, and demonstrably reduce delivery-related disruptions. This project will investigate technical design choices (sensors, communication, and software), integration challenges with existing processes, and measurable impacts on production line performance, thereby clarifying feasibility and expected benefits in an automotive manufacturing context.
    RESEARCH OBJECTIVES (3 objectives)
Design and implement a prototype real-time part delivery tracking system that captures location and status of parts across the production area, achieving at least 90% tracking accuracy for tagged parts and end-to-end visibility within the workshop by the end of the project (project timeline: 6 months).
Integrate the tracking data with the production scheduling interface and develop operational dashboards and alerts to reduce production line stoppages caused by part shortages or misplacements by at least 25% within 6 months of system deployment, as measured by incident logs and downtime records.
Evaluate system performance and economic impact through controlled trials and data analysis, demonstrating a measurable improvement in average part retrieval time (target: ≥15% reduction) and producing a documented cost–benefit assessment and implementation recommendations within the project timeframe.
    AIM
The aim of this research project is to design, implement, and evaluate a real-time part delivery tracking system that enhances visibility and coordination on the production line, thereby optimizing line performance and reducing delivery-related disruptions in an automotive manufacturing environment.

According to the shared scenario only, Suggest what could be contributing to the thermal discomfort that the kitchen workers are experiencing during the wedding preparations? (20 points required). SCEANRIO :SCENARIO: Sherring Hall, a historic mansion converted into a hotel in 1964, is preparing for its first wedding. The hotel features 12 bedrooms, an award-winning restaurant, and a bakery supplying local businesses. Recently, the new Managing Director (MD) introduced weddings as a new venture, hiring a Banqueting Manager (BM) to oversee events, including setting up a permanent marquee for 120 seated guests. With 80 employees, including temporary workers from Thinkwell (a charity aiding mental health rehabilitation), the hotel is bustling. The BM supervises staff in arranging chairs and catering for the wedding. Meanwhile, the Head Gardener (HG) trims hedges using old equipment, working alone before the assistant gardener arrives. The HG uses a petrol-powered hedge trimmer for hours, unaware of vibration exposure risks. In the bakery, workers start at 4 AM, with a trainee handling dough mixers amid flour spills. A missing worker (Worker A) has respiratory issues, possibly linked to flour dust. In the kitchen, temperatures rise as staff rush to prepare the wedding banquet. A kitchen assistant feels unwell but is urged to work quickly. Workers X and Y unload heavy chairs from a truck, handling unstable stacks. The kitchen operates at full capacity, with ineffective ventilation and steam hazards from dishwashers. Despite challenges, the team hopes the event succeeds, paving the way for future weddings. The scenario highlights potential health and safety risks, including manual handling, vibration exposure, flour dust, heat stress, and poor ventilation, emphasizing the need for better workplace practices.
Possible contributors to thermal discomfort (based on the scenario)
High workload and intense physical effort:
The kitchen is operating at full capacity and staff are rushing to prepare a large banquet, increasing metabolic heat production.
    Poor or ineffective ventilation:
The scenario explicitly notes ineffective ventilation in the kitchen, limiting heat removal and fresh air supply.
    Steam and humidity from dishwashers:
Steam hazards increase local humidity, reducing evaporative cooling and making the environment feel hotter.
Multiple heat sources from cooking equipment:
Continuous use of ovens, stoves, hotplates and other catering equipment elevates ambient temperature.
    Overcrowding and many staff present:
A busy event setup with many people in the kitchen adds body heat and restricts airflow.
Historic building with potentially inadequate HVAC:
Sherring Hall’s age (converted in 1964) suggests the building may lack modern air conditioning or effective climate control.
Time pressure and limited rest breaks:
Staff being urged to work quickly may skip hydration and rest, increasing susceptibility to heat stress.
    Inadequate acclimatisation for temporary workers:
Temporary/charity workers may not be acclimatised to strenuous kitchen heat, increasing discomfort.
    Clothing and PPE:
Typical kitchen uniforms and protective clothing (aprons, long sleeves) can impede heat loss and increase thermal strain.
    Adjacent operations adding heat:
Nearby bakery and other hot activities (early starts, mixers, ovens) can contribute to overall site temperature if ventilation is shared or limited.
    Manual handling and additional exertion:
Tasks such as unloading heavy chairs increase physical exertion and body heat generation, compounding kitchen heat stress.
Lack of monitoring or response to symptoms:
A kitchen assistant feeling unwell but being urged to continue suggests inadequate recognition and management of heat-related symptoms, allowing conditions to worsen.

Refer to the following scenario for the next 3 questions.A company is building a new sawmill facility with advanced processing technology in a medium-sized community to replace an older sawmill. The older sawmill employs over 500 people in a small community and will close once the new sawmill is complete. Approximately 100 employees at the older sawmill will be transferred to the new sawmill facility, with the other positions eliminated due to process and technology improvements. The companys leadership has drafted a plan to communicate the impending layoffs to all employees. According to the HR department, uncertainty is high throughout this transition. Several weeks ago, tension escalated significantly at the old sawmill when a maintenance department worker, a long-term employee with the company, initiated a verbal dispute over the company radio system with a forklift operator who recently joined the company’s shipping department. A physical altercation resulted when the operator drove a forklift from the shipping department to the maintenance department to confront the maintenance employee. With the new technology and culture, there is some concern as to whether current employees are qualified to work in the new sawmill. Which most effectively addresses this concern?
    Answers
Generate a questionnaire for employees at the old sawmill that asks them to document their current capabilities.
Require employees to go through a validated hiring process to ensure that they are a good fit for the new sawmill.
Review employees’ performance history to assess their potential success with the new technology and culture.
Administer a test to current employees to measure their potential to learn the technology at the new sawmill.
