Two Inter Miami fans are arguing about soccer. One fan is upset with the coach and staff because she thinks that the older players are being played for less time than the younger players, and that the younger players are given more time on the field. She feels this is unfair to the older players.

They decide to settle the argument with statistics. They want to know if there is a correlation between **age and total hours played for the 2024 soccer season.** They are testing whether older players played for less time than the younger players.

It is one thing to read about an evidence-based practice and understand its potential value; it is another to actually implement that practice. This jump from understanding to application requires critical and systematic thinking on the part of the social worker. When treating clients, social workers must ensure that the evidence-based practice is appropriate for the client and the problem—and that the client supports its use. To earn that support, the social worker should present the client and stakeholders with a plan for implementation and evidence of the EBP’s efficacy and suitability.

Many may attempt to apply an evidence-based practice that seems to be strongly supported by research, only to become frustrated or confused when their efforts do not yield the same positive results as the research. This discrepancy can occur because they have failed to recognize the differences between conditions in their practice environment and the conditions of the study—or differences in the demographic and cultural characteristics of the client groups. Moreover, they may have failed to consider and adequately plan for issues that could arise during implementation.

In this Assignment, you return to your chosen client from the Week 1 Assignment and carefully consider the factors and steps involved in applying an EBP with that client in your practice.

    To Prepare

    · Select one evidence-based practice that you researched for your client for the Week 1 Assignment and return to the peer-reviewed research article demonstrating the effectiveness of this practice.

    · Note any similarities or differences between the conditions in which the evidence-based practice was implemented in the study and the conditions in which you would implement it at your field agency or practice setting.

    · Consider the steps you would take to implement the EBP and factors that would support or limit these steps.

    By Day 7

**Submit** a 2- to 3-page paper that analyzes the implementation of the evidence-based practice in your field agency or practice setting:

    · Provide a brief description of your agency or practice setting (two sentences).

    · Explain any differences between the conditions of the study and the conditions at your field agency or practice setting. Explain the potential impact these differences could have on successful implementation.

    · Describe the steps that would be required to implement the evidence-based practice in your field agency or practice setting, including:

    · Any factors that would support each step and how you would leverage them

    · Any factors that would limit or hinder each step and how you would mitigate them

    · Draw conclusions about:

    · The anticipated results of the implementation in your practice setting

    · Whether your results will be similar or different from the research results in the article

Use the Learning Resources and peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles to support your paper. Make sure to include appropriate APA citations and a reference list.

Evidence-based Intervention Plan for Jake Levy Case Study

    WEEK 1 assignment

    SOCW-6311

    02/27/2026

**Evidence-based Intervention Plan for Jake Levy Case Study**

Jake is a 31-year-old Iraq veteran who presents to the VA with behavioral and psychological concerns affecting is daily functioning and family system since return to civilian life 10 months ago. Jake was recently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and reports experiencing sleeping difficulties, heart palpitations, and moodiness along with heavy drinking nearly every day. He also reported that he was not engaged with his sons at all and kept to himself when he was at home. He reports fighting a lot with his wife and drinks to take edge off and help him sleep. Based on the assessment, there are two primary issues requiring intervention, including severity of PTSD symptoms and alcohol misuse, utilized as a maladaptive coping mechanism.

Jake’s severe PTSD symptoms are concerning, including sleeping difficulties, palpitations, moodiness, irritability, emotional withdrawal and avoidance behaviors. PTSD severe anxiety disorder associated with experiences of an event that leads to psychological trauma. This disorder has had significant impacts on Jakes’ emotional regulation, occupational functioning and interpersonal relationships with his family and others (Schnurr et al., 2022). The symptoms have hindered his ability to engage with the wife and children emotionally, leading to marital struggles and isolation. The impact of these symptoms on the individual includes impaired social functioning, psychological distress and reduced quality of life.

Alcohol misuse is also another critical issue in this case. Jake drinks heavily as a coping mechanism to manage PTSD symptoms, such as, difficulty sleeping and emotional regulation struggles. He reports drinking heavily during week days (four to five drinks in the evenings) and weekends (eight to ten drinks). The heavy drinking pattern risks exacerbating Jake’s PTSD symptoms, including family dysfunction and emotional withdrawal. It also puts him at risk of alcohol use disorder. Santa Ana et al. (2021) asserts that the co-occurrence of substance use with PTSD leads to exacerbations if not managed concurrently. Hence, Jake’s alcohol use issue should be addressed along the PTSD symptoms to avoid exacerbations. It requires evidence-based interventions that address symptoms linked to past traumas while promoting healthy behaviors and coping mechanisms.

    **Evidence-Based Intervention for PTSD Symptoms**

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based intervention suggested to address PTSD. It is a trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy that helps individuals to identify and maladaptive beliefs linked to past traumas. It also helps to enhance an individual’s emotional regulation and reduce avoidance behaviors.

**Annotation of Research Article that supports the use of CPT**

CPT is an evidence-based approach that leads to measurable improvements in PTSD symptoms as evidenced by a randomized control trial Schnurr et al. (2021). The study conducted an investigation to compare the impacts of CPT and prolonged exposure therapy among U.S. veterans diagnosed with PTSD. The study included 900 veterans diagnosed with PTSD receiving treatment via Veterans Affairs health care centers. The researchers randomly placed participants into CPT or prolonged exposure therapy. They used standardized clinical measures to assess PTSD symptoms throughout the treatment period and follow-up periods.

The study results revealed significant reductions in PTSD symptoms among participants receiving CPT, including enhanced emotional functioning and improved quality of life. CPT significantly reduced trauma-associated symptoms, such as, avoidance behaviors, trauma-related thoughts and emotional distress (Schnurr et al., 2020). The study design as a randomized control trial, large sample size and use of standardized clinical measures support the use of CPT as an evidence-based intervention for addressing PTSD symptoms.

    **Evidence-based Intervention for Alcohol Misuse**

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is suggested as an evidence-based intervention by Santa Ana et al. (2021) for tackling behavioral change and increase motivation to reduce the use of substances, such as alcohol. Individuals who are hesitant to treatment, such as attending alcoholic anonymous like Jakes can benefit from MI. Randomized control trials like that of Santa Ana et al. (2021) has shown its effectiveness in improving engagement with individuals battling with substance use disorders, including alcohol misuse.

**Annotation of Research Article that supports the use of MI**

Santa Ana et al. (2021) investigated the effectiveness of using group MI among veterans with substance use disorders. The veterans who attended VA health care centers were randomly assigned to either MI or standard treatment. Throughout the intervention period and follow-ups, the researchers evaluated frequency of substance use, severity of substance use and motivation for change. The study results showed increased motivation to reduce alcohol use and change behavior among veterans receiving MI (Santa Ana et al., 2021). The participants also demonstrated willingness to adopt positive coping mechanisms and increased treatment engagement. In this study, MI is supported as an evidence-based intervention for alcohol misuse through the randomized control design, measurable treatment outcomes and veteran-specific sample.

**Interventions Evaluation and Suitability to the Case Study**

Based on Jake’s psychosocial challenges and clinical needs, CPT and MI are highly appropriate interventions. Jakes presents emotional distress, avoidance behaviors and maladaptive thoughts related to trauma during combat in Iraq. These symptoms are consistent with PTSD and the use of CPT can help him understand and process his past traumatic experiences and learn healthy coping strategies to counter those (Chemark et al., 2019). The end result is strengthened interpersonal relationships, ability to get along with his family and improved emotional functioning. MI is also suitable to this case as it demonstrates the motivating towards changing heavy alcohol drinking. Its non-confrontational approach and client-centeredness enhances client autonomy, self-effectiveness and willingness for change. Reduced alcohol use can strengthen the family’s relationships and address frequent fights with the wife. These interventions complement each other and address maladaptive coping mechanisms and address past trauma.

Overall, the client’s severe PTSD symptoms and heavy alcohol use impair the client’s well-being, daily functioning and family relationships. Cognitive processing therapy can help alleviate the severe PTSD symptoms while MI can motivate the client to avoid heavy drinking and increasingly engage with the treatment. The client will benefit from these interventions by improving his emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, daily functioning and strengthened family relationships.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    Dual relationships and boundaries

Select one of the following scenarios:

    · A psychologist is seeing a client in therapy. The client tells him she can no longer pay for sessions. You have been struggling to deal with the paperwork imposed by managed care and by your billing. You suggest that the client can work for you two days per week instead of paying for sessions.

    · You are a professor at a local college. One of the students in your class is clearly distraught. You notice this and mention that you hope everything is okay. The student tells you that his wife recently left him and he is having difficulty coping with the situation. You talk to him for a few minutes and then leave for your office. At the next class, the student tells you how much he appreciated your concern. He states that he understands that you are a psychologist and asks for your card. The next day he calls your office for an appointment to see you.

    · A client you are seeing has a house on St. Thomas. One day during a particular difficult session, the client suggests that you might enjoy a trip to St. Thomas and a stay at his villa on the ocean. You tell him that you really do not have any time for a trip but thank him for his offer. The next week, the client states that he will not take “no” for an answer and tells you that on your next vacation, you must let him know so that he can make certain that the villa is available.

    · A close friend of yours is having difficulty with her teenage daughter. She knows you are a psychologist who specializes in adolescents. She asks if you would be willing to see her daughter for a few sessions to straighten her out.

Write a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper based on your selected scenario in which you examine the concept of dual relationships. As a part of your examination, be sure to address the following items:

    · Define the concept of dual relationships.

    · Analyze the dual relationships presented in your selected scenario. How is there a potential conflict?

    · Discuss the ethical issues presented by these dual relationships. What ethical codes apply? What possible harm or difficulties might arise due the conflict? How would your resolve or conclude the issue?

    · Explain the challenges presented by boundary issues in professional psychology.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

    **Constructing a Culturagram Assignment Instructions**

    Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to further practice your assessment skills using the Rodriguez family case study. Constructing a culturagram on the Rodriguez family will enable you to understand the issues that are unique to persons from other countries and cultures. This is the splendor of the culturagram; it allows you to better understand the person with whom you are working including their strengths and areas of need. Developed by Elaine Congress and based on her years of work with Latino populations, the culturagram is a great place to enhance your work with the Rodriguez family.

    **Instructions**

    For this assignment, please review
**Listen: Social Work Podcast — Visual Assessment Tools Culturagram** on this topic (there is also, a transcript available for persons with hearing impairments) located in the
    **Learn** section of the module.

In this podcast, the moderator of this website, Professor Jonathan Singer, discusses with Dr. Elaine Congress how the tool was developed, and a bit more about how it is used.

For this assignment, students will complete a culturagram, and a summary of the assessment tools. The paper must contain 1.5 pages of narrative content, 1 diagram (not included in the 1.5 pages of narrative), and a title and reference page. Students must include at least 2 sources, such as the course texts, the Bible, relevant journal articles, and/or websites. The paper must be in the current APA format.

As you will learn from going to the website and listening to the podcast, the culturagram has ten areas, or domains. You should address each question that speaks to each domain based on information found in the Rodriquez case study. See the below illustration.

    ## Lesson 2: The 4P's and Marketing Innovation

    ### Marketing Mix

The marketing mix comprises the 4 Principles, the Product, the Price, the Promotion, and the Place (Gilstein, 2020). Marketers pay close attention to this mix. The product must meet the needs and wants of the target audience, as the marketing mix drives customer purchase decisions (Hanaysha et al., 2021).

    Tabs

Select each item to learn more.

    ProductPricePromotionPlace

The product is the good or service provided to customers (Gomez Albrecht et al., 2025). Marketers need to know what consumers want from a product when considering products or services. For example, when buying a car, consumers consider the color, the trim, the engine, and other amenities before choosing between car brands. It is crucial to consider why your product will appeal to your market and how people will use it to determine how it will fare in the market.

Price is the amount people will pay for the product. Deciding between high or low pricing is a balancing act for the consumer. High pricing may make a product or service unaffordable for intended consumers. It may be perceived as low value if it is priced too low. The quality of the product can also be questioned.

Additionally, the balance of low and high pricing also affects the company. The price must consider all the costs for the product while simultaneously linking pricing to product benefits (Gomez Albrecht et al., 2025). Companies must know how low they can charge and make a profit versus how high they can trust and not lose customers. Ironically, the right price often falls between the highest and lowest possible (Gomez Albrecht et al., 2023).

The product needs to be promoted effectively. Promotion includes strategies including television, the internet, social media, advertising, and public relations to increase product awareness. Consumers need to be made aware of the product's existence. There are many ways in which product information can reach the intended audience. The promotion aims to get the right consumers at the right time and place (Gomez Albrecht et al., 2023). Knowing what promotion tactics or mix of tactics will reach your target consumer is imperative.

The place is also an essential part of the marketing mix. The product needs to be conveniently available to the target audience. If a consumer must drive 100 miles to purchase the product, it is highly likely that, over time, the consumer may choose to do without it or find a substitute. Marketers must ensure that many retailers carry the product to grow and have repeat customers. These days, depending on the product, consumers may have the option to purchase the product online directly from the company’s website or Amazon!

What is most important is that all four dimensions may be necessary for organizational success, especially with innovation. Scholars have found that the more elements of the marketing mix are introduced, the higher the innovation performance (Adams et al., 2019). As you explore new and innovative concepts, services, and products, consider how the 4Ps will make the innovation launch successful.

    #### The 7 P's Model

Although the 4 P’s model is widely accepted, some marketers utilize a 7 P’s model that extends to people, processes, and physical evidence.

    Tabs

Select each item to learn more.

    PeopleProcessPhysical Evidence

People refer to how organizations engage with customers, including staff, incentives, and interpersonal behavior (Das et al., 2021). Organizations may engage in personal selling, manage customer relationships, and engage with customers online to keep customers connected with the company and its brand. People are essential, reflecting how affiliated organizations are with their customers.

Processes refer to the company's systems and strategies to develop the customer journey. With the technique, an organization should design systems to be efficiently delivered to the consumer and potentially environmentally sustainable (McInerney, 2021). Parts of the process include using technology and AI and developing the customer journey through the sales life cycle for customers and consumers (Das et al., 2021).

Physical evidence includes proof of the product’s quality (Das et al., 2021), packaging, branding, and how your products or services are perceived in person and digitally (McInerney, 2021). In the service industry, awards won may be a visible quality indicator, whereas a store's ambiance, cleanliness, and organization may drive positive customer perceptions. Physical evidence is also essential on websites, as organizations should have well-organized, easy-to-read sites with meaningful media.

Regardless of which model you believe is the most important, understanding the marketing mix is vital for developing an innovative product and ensuring a sound marketing strategy. The assignment for this section asks you to discuss, at minimum, the 4P’s model and identify which P is the most important to your innovative product’s success.
