    **Synthesis Essay Assignment Instructions**

    **Overview**

    The
**Synthesis Essay** will give you a chance to understand and explain how your areas of study influence each other and how all of them come together to help you move on to the next step in your career or life.

    **Instructions**

In 700-1,100 words, convince a hiring manager in your field that your choice of areas of study has prepared you well for your proposed future career.

    Requirements:

    1. You may use first person, but not second person.

    2. Your grammar, spelling, and punctuation should be flawless. Visit the Liberty University writing centers if you want extra help.

    3. As per college writing best practice, your essay should be thesis driven, and each body paragraph should ideally be centered around a specific area of study. Include introduction and conclusion paragraphs.

    4. If you are not pursuing a professional job after you graduate (retiring, stay-at-home-parent, graduate school, etc.), explain how what you have learned will be relevant to your next stage in life.

    5. You should not explain your personal history or the story of how you chose your areas of study. Focus only on answering one simple question: “How do your areas of study and the specific classes you took prepare you for this job or graduate program or promotion or next stage in life?”

    6. Develop your main points using specific examples of particular classes, information, and skills you learned that will contribute to your career field.

    7. Organize your paper like this:

    a. Introduction to establish what your areas of study are, what the next career step is, and what your thesis is

    b. Body paragraph justifying first area of study with specific examples

    c. Body paragraph justifying second area of study with specific examples

    d. Body paragraph justifying third area of study (if you have a third area) with specific examples

    e. Conclusion to summarize main points and emphasize your preparedness

    8. Use APA formatting and a title page, but no abstract page is required.

    Additional Suggestions:

    1. You need to justify all areas of study in your degree, but you can use as many paragraphs or sub-points as you like for each.

    2. Remember you will succeed if you convince your audience that your areas of study were good choices, not necessarily that they should hire you. Focus on how well prepared you are based on your choices in undergrad.

    3. Reliable sources, while not required, will make your argument far more trustworthy.

    4. To begin brainstorming, you can ask yourself, “What relevant skills, knowledge, or experiences did I acquire in earning the credits for each of my areas of study?”

    5. Note that even if you transferred in credit or received PLA credit for life experiences, you can still use skills learned through those to justify your decisions.

    6. For many INDS students, their areas of study are a series of choices over the course of several years as they learn of new areas of interest and their career plans evolve; be honest but remember that it is up to you to explain why your skills are relevant to your field.

    7. If you have an area of study that seems to no longer apply to your proposed field, you still have to justify it. Be creative and remember back to what you learned; think about how it might still be relevant.

    8. You can use Liberty’s web pages as a source when describing classes or your degree.

Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.

    ## QSO 420 Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric

    ### Overview

This milestone is designed to introduce the case study for the final project and to begin a critical analysis applying knowledge gained within the course. This assignment is the first step in the analysis of a company for your final project. For this milestone, you will define the earned value parameters for your final project.

    ### Directions

For this milestone, you will define the basic elements used to calculate EVM measures, analyze the project documentation to establish EVM parameters, discuss various methods used to determine earned value, and select the most appropriate method for determining earned value.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

    1. Earned Value **Parameters**
    1. Define the basic **elements** used to calculate EVM measures—earned value (EV), planned value (PV), actual cost (AC), and budget at completion (BAC)— and where you would find them in project documentation.
    2. **Analyze** the project documentation from the case study for the data necessary to establish EVM parameters. In other words, is everything you need to establish the EVM parameters for this project contained within that documentation? If not, explain how you might obtain it. Be sure to use specific examples to justify your rationale.
    3. Discuss the various methods used to determine **earned value**.
    4. **Select** the most appropriate method for determining earned value for the project in the case study. Be sure to use research to substantiate your position.

    ### What to Submit

Submit your milestone as a 2- to 3-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

    ### AI Usage

If you use gen AI tools to support your work on this assignment, be sure to follow [these AI usage guidelines](https://snhu.ink/StudentGenAIGuide). You must acknowledge your use of these tools in your work. Guidelines on how to cite AI tools can be found in [this Shapiro Library guide](https://snhu.ink/CitationAndAI).

    BUSI 301

    **Discussion Assignment Instructions**

    Overview

Discussions bring dialogue and communication into our learning experience. Unlike so much of the unsubstantiated opinion we see in the public square and social media, these discussions provide a space for in-depth analysis and application of the topics in our Learn readings and presentations. Each discussion is a mini-research paper developing conclusions that are supported by scholarly sources and critical analysis. The replies are expressly assigned to respond to classmates with different conclusions or analysis and require civil discourse to broaden understanding of the topics.

    Instructions

Each discussion consists of 2 parts:

    1) a thread of at least 300 words in response to the provided prompt and

    2) replies of at least 150 words each to 2 classmates’ threads.

Each thread and each reply must reference at least 2 scholarly sources other than the course textbook, cited in current APA format (including both in-text citations and a reference list). You must also support each thread and reply with thoughtful analysis (considering assumptions, analyzing implications, and comparing/contrasting concepts) and Biblical worldview integration.

Well-developed, complete worldview analysis of the situation requires more than simply adding a Bible verse at the end of the post. Each thread and each reply must include at least 1 verse from Scripture, quoted and applied as an integral part of the discussion of the applicable issues in the context of a Biblical worldview.

For each reply, read the threads posted by your classmates and reply to 2 threads that presented a different conclusion than your thread. Note that comments such as “I like what you said,” “that is a good comment,” and “I disagree with your comment” do not constitute complete replies. Rather, state reasons that support your conclusions with additional and/or alternate research/ideas/thoughts.

Submit each thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned Module: Week. Submit two replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the same Module: Week.

    **Discussion – PROMPT:**

This is a two-part task. Dust off your internet skills.

This week we are exploring aspects of the job search for which you will be using your e-Portfolio. Having prepared your resume and career plan:

    1.
**Video or Podcast Recommendation:** Numerous Podcasts and Videos are broadcast on the Web with advice for career planning, career change, job search, interviewing, etc. Search the Web and find either a Podcast or Video
**_no older than 1 year_** that you recommend to your classmates as a valuable resource. Do NOT select a source already cited in this course! It needs to be something new that you find, review and recommend as a good resource.
**_In your initial post_** briefly summarize the Podcast or Video you chose, with its citation, why you like it, and the hyperlink to it.

    2.
**Job Posting Search**: Next, please conduct an online career search for a post-graduate job or other position of interest that fits your career plan (whether soon or farther in the future). If you have nothing in mind at the moment, search for a fit for a hypothetical "dream job."
**_In your initial post_**: (a) share
**at least one** job posting from your search here in the Discussion, including a hyperlink. Explain
in your post: how you went about your search (e.g. databases you used, key search terms, etc.); and how this job position aligns with your career plan that you posted in last week's discussion (or the "dream job").

    **## Week3Assignment.docx**

**Week 3 Assignment – Resume Peer Review**

In Week 1 you prepared your resume using Hiration and received feedback from your instructor. This week’s assignment is providing a peer review of a classmate’s resume from the perspective of a potential employer. The Week 3 eReserve Reading at Indeed.com,
[Resume Critique: Definition and Tips [web article]](https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/resumes-cover-letters/resume-critique) will assist you in preparing this Assignment. Also explore other research of your own.

    **Aligned Course Objective: CO-3**

    **Directions**

For this assignment complete the following steps (also review the Grading Rubric):

    1. If you have not already done so, immediately upload your own finalized Week 1 resume to your Group Locker folder.

    2.
**Your instructor will assign you a classmate’s resume** to review for this assignment. When you receive the assignment, download your classmate’s resume from their Group Locker folder.

    3.
**Create criteria  using the attached Word template.** This is
**a review checklist** **or table of** **five criteria** that you will use to prepare your peer review of your classmate's resume.

    · Your criteria must integrate the following and must be
**constructive, objective, and relevant for reviewing a resume.** Include a
**References page on this Peer Review of** **at least 2 research sources** you utilized in creating your checklist. (One might be the above Indeed.com source, for example.)

    · TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS –

    · Download the template. It will be "read only." Save it as a new document with your name (e.g. JDoeResume Review).

    · The template lays out the structure for your  Peer Review including headings. "INSTRUCTIONS" in grayed text tell you what to write in each section.

    · PLEASE DO NOT KEEP THE GRAY SHADED INSTRUCTIONS IN YOUR FINAL PAPER! These are to be replaced with your own text providing the required information.

    · Guidance: Be a mentor. Review your assigned classmate's resume based on the criteria you created.

    · Your tone should be collegial and sensitive, but provide constructive, relevant feedback, i.e. pros and cons.

    · Simply saying “nice job,” “great resume,” etc. is not a review and is not constructive.

    · Explain both what is effective and why, and what could be improved and why. Refer to the criteria you chose for your review.

    · Consider what you hope to see as feedback on the review of your resume.

    4. Access the Group Locker and upload a copy of your completed Peer Review to your
    **classmate’s folder**.

    5. Submit another copy of your Peer Review  to this Assignment for grading AND a copy of the peer's resume you reviewed.
