**RTI Tier 1-3 Graphic Organizer Assignment instructions**

    Overview

As special educators, it is necessary to assess and interpret data when making decisions about the needs of students. Through the reading and materials in the course, you will understand the role of the three tiers of Response to Intervention (RTI) to inform these decisions best.

    Instructions

After studying the resources in the Learn section of this module, create a graphic organizer using a free app such as Creately, Edrawsoft, or another tool of your choice. Complete the following:

    1. In the center bubble of your graphic organizer, put the title RTI Tier 1-3 and surround the center bubble with five middle-sized bubbles labeled Universal Screening, High-Quality Instruction, Increasingly Intense Levels of Instructional Intervention, Progress Monitoring, and Data-Based Decisions. These are the major categories for RTI.

    2. Next, add additional smaller bubbles for the third level of the graphic organizer. In each third-level bubble, provide unique and appropriate cited facts from the IRIS Center modules, the course text, and other scholarly sources you curate for each of the five topics listed in the middle-level bubbles.  Make sure it is clear which facts relate to which of the RTI categories.

Color coding each category or using specific fonts or headings is suggested.

The finished graphic organizer will have five relevant facts for each of the five topics of RTI.

Provide in-text citations where sources were used for information. Add your References for all sources used to the graphic organizer document. Current APA formatting is expected.

Here is an example of a bubble graphic organizer (with adjustments needed to fit the requirements for this assignment). This graphic organizer was available for free as a template in EdrawMax.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

1.)  What’s the difference between a closed-ended question and an open-ended  question? What are the various strengths and weaknesses associated with  both types? Which type will be most appropriate for your research? Why?  Provide some specific questions that you will use.

2.) What do you think about compensating survey respondents to  complete a questionnaire? Describe both the positive and negative  aspects associated with this approach. Are some forms of compensation  better than others? Why or why not? Will you implement some form of  compensation to elicit higher response rates in your study? Why or why  not?

3.) What is a double-barreled question? Provide an example. Why are  double-barreled questions inappropriate for survey research? How does  the introduction of contingency questions solve the double-barreled  question problem? Take your previously constructed double-barreled  question and design one or more contingency questions.

4.) Given your reading of Smith (2013), what does the future hold for  survey research? Does the use of new technologies such as social media  promise to improve survey research? Is there any potential for harm?  Discuss.

For your reflection paper, discuss the comments that: For most students with disabilities, the LRE (Least Restrictive Environment) is the general education classroom for much or all of the school day. For some students, it is a combination of a general education and a special education setting. For a few, a special education setting for most or all of the school day is required. Based on what you have learned, why do you think the LRE isn't
always the general education classroom? Provide an example of what this might “look like” in a school.

Conclude your reflection by describing three ways general education teachers are involved with providing services to students with disabilities. …you may provide personal examples

This paper should be between 500-1000 words and written in APA format. (title page, in text citations, reference page, one-inch margins, double spaced) Your reference page and in text citations will mostly be materials within the D2L course, unless you brought in any of your own outside resources, which is perfectly fine.
